North Carolina Legislation Denies the Proposal to Legalize Marijuana and War Vets Fight Back

(IT-NEWSWIRE.COM, April 28, 2015 ) Charlotte, NC -- Veterans in nearby city Fayetteville, NC have been advocating for marijuana to be legalized for pain management. A growing group of war vets in Fayetteville have found marijuana to be an effective source for treating numerous conditions including relief pain, post traumatic stress disorders (PTSD), and depression. Presently there is no support from Republican legislation to pass the bill for legalization of marijuana.

Currently veterans are among the strongest forces for reform in the nation, particularly veterans in the South. In efforts to gain support from Republican legislation, a group of veterans have founded the group North Carolina Republicans Against Marijuana Prohibition, also called N.C. Ramp. The N.C. ramp group actively advocates for the legalization of marijuana in North Carolina.

N.C. Ramp President and former war veteran David Hargitt, Sr. stated "The reason I have gotten involved in advocating for medical cannabis in North Carolina is to ensure patients and doctors have the ability to prescribe and use cannabis as medication without the fear of retribution, prosecution and being treated like criminals."

Some individuals use marijuana for recreational purposes, however, research has shown that marijuana is capable of treating many symptoms that war veterans may suffer from such as PTSD. Drug and Alcohol Rehab Charlotte supports the use of medical marijuana for medical use only. The facility offers drug and alcohol rehab programs in Charlotte, NC for individuals that have developed an addiction to marijuana or cannot control their use of marijuana.

A medical associate from drug and Alcohol Rehab Charlotte comments" I can see why legislators would deny the bill because there are so many people abusing marijuana. However, I don't agree that those who medical marijuana can actually benefit should be deprived. I know it'll be a very thin line between separating those who are using marijuana for medical purposes and recreational purposes but everyone shouldn't have to suffer.".
