IPhone 6 Demand Remains High Despite Competition From Galaxy S6

(IT-NEWSWIRE.COM, July 07, 2015 ) London, UK -- The arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S6 in the market place has failed to dent interest in its main rivals, the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

A market analysis by Counterpoint Technology Market Research of Hong Kong claimed the S6, released in April this year was struggling in its bid to take on the might of Apple's iPhone 6 range, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Many pundits were expecting the Galaxy S6 to provide stiff competition for the iPhone 6. While the S6 has helped revive Samsung's smartphone fortunes by already outselling its predecessor the S5, the iPhone 6 is proving a much tougher nut to crack.

The Galaxy S6's inability to gain market share is further compounded by the fact that the iPhone 6 has been available to customers since September 2014. While this makes the iPhone 6, at least in the fickle world of the smartphone an "old model", Samsung's S6 range "new kids on the block" is not enjoying the impact expected.

One explanation could be because the earlier launch of the iPhone 6 gave Apple a head start and enabled the product to soak up the demand from customers eager to test for themselves the capabilities of large screened phones. Apple's strong brand presence also appears to be a factor.

A spokesperson for lifestyle brand Boom, which designs cases for the iPhone 6 and S6 said: "Whether the earlier release of the iPhone 6 has proved to be advantageous for Apple is hard to gauge. But the iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 are both excellent smartphones. Many people who moved to Android devices due to Apple's very late entry into the supersize screen arena might also be contributing to a welcome return boost for Apple."

The impact of the iPhone 6 also stretches beyond just Samsung with consumers reportedly switching to iOS from the wider Android range at a faster rate than in previous years.
