The attackers took advantage of the risk by stealing the contact information of high-profile Instagram users like the singer and actress Selena Gomez.

Instagram’s CTO, Mike Krieger confirmed that a bug did expose their users’ details but they are already patching things up with the law enforcement.

Based on Mike’s complete statement, HighProxies has validated that no other Instagram activities or password were extracted by the hackers. Mike’s full statement reads,
“We care deeply about the safety and security of the Instagram community, so we want to let you know that we recently discovered a bug on Instagram that could be used to access some people’s email address and phone number even if they were not public. No passwords or other Instagram activity was revealed. We quickly fixed the bug, and have been working with law enforcement on the matter. Although we cannot determine which specific accounts may have been impacted, we believe it was a low percentage of Instagram accounts.”

Reports claimed that the hackers are Russians who created a searchable database called Doxagram. Doxagram contains all the stolen information of 6 million Instagram users and sold for just $10. 1,000 accounts were already revealed by hackers as available on Doxagram which includes 50 “most-followed accounts”. But now, The Windows Club has already confirmed that Doxagram was already offline.
