Independence Day is a National Day commemorating US Independence and is celebrated every July 4th.
The first Independence Day happened on July 4, 1776, when the Declaration of Independence was approved by the Congress. It was Thomas Jefferson who was the principal author of the Declaration. But it was July 2, 1776 when the Thirteen Colonies of the US separated legally from Great Britain.
